The Pine Creek Headwater’s Protection Group (PCHPG) was established in 1987 to promote the local citizens awareness of the high value of Pine Creek, to emphasize its uniqueness as a natural resource, and to show it
can be preserved for aquatic life, wildlife, and for all people to appreciate and use.
In July 2013, we celebrated our 25th Anniversary with a community celebration at The Dean Center in Wellsboro, PA.

Pine Creek Clean Up Events
PCHPG organizes several trash pick-up events each year, including:
- Two roadside clean-ups on a 2-mile stretch of PA Rt 287, 8 miles south of Wellsboro, PA above and below the Antrim turn-off
- Annual river clean-up on Pine Creek (Upper Pine Creek and the canyon section).
For the river clean-ups, Pine Creek Outfitters provides us with all necessary equipment for this annual event.
The Route 287 roadside pick-up usually is followed by beer and the "Daily Special" at the Duncan Tavern, where we share special trash finds and tales.
We announce these annual events on our website, group email, and on the “Pine Creek, PA” Facebook page. If you want to join us, please make sure you're on the our group's e-list or check Facebook for details!
We’d like to express our many thanks to the Bureau of Forestry, Pine Creek Outfitters, Inc., PennDOT (whose staff dispose of our highway 'finds'), and to all the volunteers!
